Things to know
- Who it’s forSuitable for families and for people who aren’t expert swimmers: at Haynes Cay the water comes up to your waist, and at the Aquarium you wear a life vest, which is mandatory; with basic swimming skills you’ll enjoy it more. Minors always go with an adult, and children ages 0 to 4 don’t pay (they take up a seat on the boat). If you get seasick easily on boats, take a motion sickness pill about 30 minutes before setting sail.
- Water shoes requiredThe cays have coral and sea urchins: wear water shoes (aqua shoes), the only way to protect your feet.
- What to bringYour swimsuit on, a towel and a light change of clothes. Water shoes (aqua shoes): they’re mandatory because of the coral and sea urchins. Reef-safe sunscreen, a cap and sunglasses. Cash for the port tax ($5,000 COP) and for snacks or drinks at the cay. Your own mask and snorkel, if you have them; if not, you can rent them on the island.
- Paying the balanceYou pay the balance to the operator at the dock on the day of the tour: in cash, by bank transfer or by card, whichever you prefer.
- Port taxSeparately from the balance, the port tax is paid at the dock: $5,000 COP per person, in cash, before departure. Children ages 0 to 4 don’t pay it.
- If the weather prevents sailingIf DIMAR (the Port Authority) closes operations that day because of the weather, or Coralina closes the Aquarium, we let you know right away on WhatsApp and reschedule your tour at no cost or refund 100% of your deposit.
